Olfactory Description:
Spice, Resin, and Oud Across the Old Sea Route
Oud Indochine feels like entering the hold of an old trade ship after dusk. Warm spice in the air, resin soaked into wood, cacao in the shadows, and precious oud carried across the sea.
It opens with cardamom, red saffron, and vanilla: bright, spiced, and immediately enveloping. The first impression is elegant but charged, like lantern light moving over carved wood and sealed cargo.
As the fragrance settles, the heart becomes denser and more sacred. Frankincense Sacra, labdanum, and myrrh create a resinous warmth, while beeswax adds a honeyed polish and guaiac wood brings soft smoke. The sweetness stays dark and textured, never simple.
Then the oud begins to rise. A rare trio of Kinam oud, South Thai oud, and Hindi oud forms the base: deep, woody, animalic, and long-lasting. Around it, dark chocolate and cacao add a dry gourmand shadow, while tar gives a smoky edge and ambergris brings a smooth mineral depth.
The drydown feels powerful but controlled: oud, resin, smoke, cacao, and ambergris moving close to the skin like something ancient, polished by time and travel.
Oud Indochine is a spiced-incense oud with a dark gourmand shadow. A scent of voyage, shadow, and old-world elegance.

I had high expectations for Oud Indochine, knowing how amazing Dmitry’s work is and how solid Dr. Balakrishnan’s collaborations have been and I was not disappointed! Oud Indochine is an evolving journey, blossoming in layers. Opens with cardamon, spice and soon a warm vanilla enters to soften the edges. Then the always addictive labdanum and myrrh comes forward bringing the basalmic notes beautifully preparing for the dry clarifying frankincense. Again beeswax and cocoa come forward to smooth any edges. And the epically long dry down begins with three ouds! Expertly balanced Hindi, Kinam and Thai ouds. This overall basalmic, slightly sweet, woodsy, beautiful and perfectly spiced fragrance is a treasure.

Oud Indochine opens dark and intense, but it never feels overwhelming. The oud here is rich, intense and barnyard funky. What caught me off guard was the dry cocoa weaving through the base, giving it this smoky, almost mysterious warmth. It’s a serious fragrance with serious longevity, and honestly worth every penny if oud is your thing

Very wearable oud, you know it is there but not offensive to others. Been wanting to pull the trigger for some time, finally did!
